What is corkball?
Corkball is a derivative of baseball played in the early 1900's with leather coated, cork baseballs. They are smaller than a baseball and the game is played with sticks or thin-cut bats. On the street where my grandfather grew up, they played corkball but with taped up wine corks, as they didn't have access to the actual corkball. Here at CorkballUSA, we utilize the asymmetrical shape of a wine cork to improve hitting performance for baseball.
When, Where and Why To Use Corkballs For Batting Practice and Hitting Drills
Why Do Coaches Choose CORKBALL - CORKBALLS are used by coaches for players from little league through the college level. CORKBALLS are made of composite cork with a PVC leather cover, which provides durability and rain protection. Coaches use them when the fields are wet or when space is limited. They can also be used for indoor soft-toss or to compliment hitting drills. Furthermore, the shape and size of the CORKBALL allows it to mimic all the movements of a baseball or softball.
You Will Become A Better Hitter - Since CORKBALLS are small and can be curved and dipped when thrown, they require concentration and bat control. Ultimately, they will gear a hitter's mind for live at-bats and drastically improve hand-eye coordination in the long run. The other added benefit, due to it's lightweight design, is that it does not travel more than 150ft.
Perfect In The Gymnasium - CORKBALLS are great at sports complexes or any other indoor hitting area where space is limited and baseballs are not suitable. Furthermore, players will fall in love with the sound when it jumps off the bat.
Great In The Backyard - Due to the leather coating and light weight, CORKBALLS minimize injury risks and property damage. Host a pick-up game and get the sound of hitting a real baseball. Or, get the training results you want just by taking some swings in your backyard. It's simple, safe, and effective.
